Best Dog Health Books

The books on this page come highly recommended. All are found in my personal dog health reference library and I refer to them on a regular basis. All of these books, as well as others (and in addition to veterinary publications and interviews), were used as reference in writing this web site.

This revised edition of the best-selling book Homeopathic Care for Cats and Dogs features Dr. Don Hamilton's classic treatments and expert guidance on caring for your dog (or cat) including many natural remedies and updated information on vaccines. This book is an eye-opener and you will start thinking about your best friend for a whole new--and improved--perspective.

This is an updated and expanded version of the classic natural pet care book by Dr. Richard Pitcairn and his wife, Susan. Both are renowned specialists in chemical-free nutrition, treatment and natural healing. An added bonus, it also includes recipes for healthy dog food you can make at home. This is an excellent book, and I added the original version to my personal library over 20 years ago.

As a journalism major (long ago!)I appreciate the author's thorough research and easy-to-read style. Like me, he was inspired to research a dog health subject because of his own dog's health issue. This is an essential book to have if you want detailed information on vaccinations. If your goal is to dig deep into understanding the vaccination controversy, I would recommend this book as a companion to Dr. Hamilton's book (above).
